Just a Quick Funny

I love Target! I reallly do, but I can't help but giggle at what I found in the One Spot recently!

I'm always on the lookout for cute collars, and while I know a collar for $2.00 won't last long, it does look like it might fit a bully. Right?

But check out this close up...size Medium...for dogs up to 11 lbs. ?!?!?! I ask you, what 11 lb dog has a neck this size?!

Hahaha! Still makes me giggle!

Missing Bulldog Dallas/Fort Worth Texas Area

I received this email today, the least I can do is use my blog to pass this info on.  Please do the same!  Mack needs to come home!

$1,000 REWARD!!
"Mack" the Bulldog Missing
Grand Prairie, Texas
Dallas/Fort Worth Texas Area

Bulldog Friends & Owners

A bulldog is missing at this point.  WE need your "help and eyes" to see if we can get this bulldog home.  Whoever has this bulldog may be trying to to take the dog to a local vet for medical treatment, offering the dog up for breeding, selling the dog in the parking lot of a gas station or a selling in the parking lot of pet store.  There is even a chance the might turn up in an animal shelter near you.

This bulldog is in Texas, perhaps you have a friend or family member you can forward this alert to?
The dog could of been driven out of the area or given to someone that took the dog elsewhere.
Stray bulldogs are rare and someone will remember seeing this dog or hearing of someone offering a 'great deal' on a bulldog.  As part of the bulldog community, someone may mention hearing about this bulldog in passing thinking your should know or could offer some advice on the dog.
Any bulldog missing or stolen should be of importance to us all.  If thefts and unreturned missing bulldogs are left unchecked or not noticed, it puts other bulldogs at risk for being taken too.

Please share this story on your twitters, facebook and forward to a friend!

Missing Family member..."Mack" We are offering a firm reward to the safe return of our little one. We will not ask any questions and will not make any assumptions, we just want him back. He is a male English bulldog that is mostly white with fawn spots on his back. His ears and stomach are very spotted.  Please call soon....

Thank you for taking the time to see this & sharing with any friends that would be helpful too.  This bullie could be transported over the statelines by now or just with in a few blocks where she was taken.

Please forward this on!

Happy Birthday to us!!!

Today is the first anniversary of Blue Line Bulldogs site!  I can't believe it's been a year already!  I just started it because I was thinking the emails I was sending to people w/photos of my bullies was probably making me "weird" amongst some crowds.

So I thought...hmmm...the site name I always wanted was available so I jumped on it & POOF!!  A work in progress was made!  I didn't know anything about a website or a blog!  I honestly never thought I'd have people looking at my site (other than me, Betsy, Sandy, Mary, my mom, Steve & occasionally Tom) let alone reading what I had to say about my dogs or the random other thoughts I've had pop up on this blog (whose birthday is officially the same day, it was just in a different format at the beginning) or lastly commenting or contacting me regarding my site/blog/photos!

Thank you all so much for visiting & following along!  Thanks for saying hi on the guestbook or posting a comment here!  Thank you to those who have sent me emails saying hi or how much you enjoy the site or my favorite...those emails telling me about YOUR bullies!  Thank you to those that I've been able to meet in person!

Most of all, thank you for allowing me to share with you my love for the bullies...and for not thinking I'm weird about it!  Sure I know, I'm borderline crazy dog lady, but I know I'm also not alone!  Ha!

Thanks again Everybully!  You've made the last year so much fun!!
(sorry, this is the only photo I have w/me & all 3 bullies!!)

Oh what fun!!

It's the first full day of spring & let me tell you, it certainly felt like it around these parts!!  Yahooooo!  I like spring only because that means summer (my season love) will be here soon!!  Or at least I can hope for that!

This weekend the bullies got to go outside quite a bit & even found a fun new toy!    A stick!  Such simple bullies I have!

Vivi says, "Hmmm...I think I'm going to take this over here...."
Doc says..."Momma!  Look what Iz gots!!"
Howie says...."Ilubthisting! Ilubthisting!  Ilubthisting!"
Yep, all this love for a stick...oh what fun!!  There was more than one stick, but you'd think there was only one by the way they were all over the one of the other bully's had!
Happy Spring Everybully!

Bulldog Love

Today we have a special guest blogger....Steve!!

On several occasions Jen has accused me of being too worried about our bulldogs.  I cannot argue this, I truly admit that I worry about our bullies a lot--probably to the point I should seek help!  :)  There is a good reason for this.

At work, we all get stressed out and upset.  It's uncertain what will happen at work, or life for that matter.  But there is one thing I know for sure....when I walk through the door whether I'm coming home from work or the gym.... that thing is bulldog love!!

I know the three bullies will look at me with pure joy, love, and innocence in their eyes.  They don't judge me, they just love me.  When I walk through the door and see them all the stress and problems just melt away (Bullies love to eat your stress).  I could never repay them for the love and enjoyment they have brought to me and my wife.

So the next time your having a bad day, just remember there is something special awaiting you when
you get home.  That thing is "Bulldog love".  One of the best things this world has to offer!!

Ok, ok, I get it Vivi...keep your pants on!

Yes, once again I let life get in the way of my blog & site updates...how rude.  Thankfully Vivi is keeping you all up-to-speed on my slackiness....she can get away with that because she's cute.

Last week we put up the xpen for the special space in the living room like we did last summer for Howie's ACL surgery recovery.  He seemed to make himself right at home.
No, no...Howie's fine.  The special space in the xpen is for Vivi this time.  She just needs to be kept in the space for a few weeks.  It's been about 8 months since the last time she had to be kept in the space....give up?  Here's a clue:
She's been a bit cranky & cuddly....oh wait, that's no different than normal.  But overall she's doing well staying in the xpen when we don't have the pretty panties on her.

This weekend it was so nice out & the snow kept melting & melting & melting...the bullies had to go outside & check out the yard again since it's so different without the snow!  But of course they liked to hang out on the deck & sun themselves more!

The bullies even had a picnic outside last night because it was so nice!  They really didn't understand the concept of eating outside because once done, they wanted to go inside & eat again!!
Doc has always loved the sun & this weekend was no different...in fact he couldn't be happier to welcome spring to Minnesota!!  (I just don't have the heart to tell him it will most likely snow again!)

Hope everybully is having a great week & enjoying some nice weather like we are!!

Pfft...I'm waiting too!!

Momma...
Don't you realize that people want to hear all about my funny antics, crazy Howie stories & whimsical Doc manifestos?  Ok, maybe not manifestos, but he certainly can give a nap a run for its money!  Where are the updates Momma?!  Huh, where?!

Until I find out more, I will sit here & wait...for all the readers...
Love-
Vivi

Bully Life Lesson #12

Bully Life Lesson
~by bullies, for bullies~

Life Lesson # 12

Sometimes you just have to be there
to support your friends.....
In anyway you're needed!

Pet Expo 2010

Hi Everybully, it's me Vivi!  Momma brought me to the Pet Expo today to help with the Hugging Booth for the St. Paul/Minneapolis Bulldog Club.  I had so much fun!
I was with my friend Holly & she had the BEST shirt ever!  My momma laughed really hard when she saw it & said, "Oooh I have to get one of those!"  But I don't think I should...I mean, really doesn't she get it??
Here is a photo of Holly's other side...jeez Momma...don't you have any respect for bully's bottoms?  Sorry Holly...

We gave lots of hugs & a few kisses, I even got a lick....of a lollipop!!  That funny little boy even put it back in his mouth after I had a lick...but I loved it & Momma had to warn all the other people who came to maybe keep the lollipops away from me cuz I guess I was drooling....

I met lots of nice people!  They gave me kisses & pats & even let me sniff them.
Some of my other bully friends that were there were Oliver (but Momma didn't get a photo of him), Hancock
And Rosie
Aren't we all good looking bullies?  I mean, really?!  After awhile, I did get tired though...so I got to lay around for a bit while momma went around taking photos of the Pet Expo for all you guys!
Momma went to the cat show & said she was kinda confused but that she did see some very pretty kitties.
Then momma saw a bunny riding around in a wagon!  She was a very pretty bunny!
Momma went walking around & found a GIANT doggy named Diesel!  He is a Great Pyrenees & he's HUGE & sooooo sweet!  When momma was going to leave, he put his paw on her hand to stay.  He was so sweet & mellow...like a long nosed, long haired, tall me!  (Ok, I'm not all that mellow all the time.)
Overall, it was a great day & I had lots of fun, but I was sooooooooo tired when I got home that I had to take a snooze!  It sure is hard work giving out all those hugs!
Love-
Vivi

Twin Cities Pet Expo THIS weekend!

The St Paul/Minneapolis Bulldog Club will once again be at the Twin Cities Pet Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center this weekend!  We'll have a Bully Hugging booth again this year!  Vivi did it last year & she had a good time!
Aww...she was just a baby last year!  But she'll be there again this Sunday, March 7th from 11am-1pm along with her friend Holly!  Many bullies will be there throughout both days!  Stop by if you have time!  Lots of dog stuff, cat stuff, dancing dogs, jumping dogs, all sorts of stuff there...stuff to buy too!

Oh & there's even a cat show this year!  I'm really excited to watch that!  They're so different than dog shows (I've only ever seen on TV).  I've told the kitties that I will report back & let them know what they're missing!  They were thrilled to hear this.

Here is a $1.00 off admission coupon!  If you stop by, please say hi!
Hope to see you there!

Oooh my knees!!!

I'm sure it's not very surprising to many of you that I'm very "type-A" when it comes to things.  I love to research & plan & research some more....regardless of what it is.  Attending the bully c-section really was no different...except that seeing videos or photos or first-hand accounts REALLY cannot prepare you for what is going to happen.

Maisy had to be at the vet first thing in the morning.  Her c-section was scheduled at 7am & while my alarm went off at 445am I couldn't help but think...ok, getting up at this time of day is really only reserved for airplane rides & dog shows...and now apparently c-sections.  So once I got the bullies & me all set for the day, I met Mary at her house to drive together to the vet.  This way I would hold onto the puppies (**fingers crossed** ) in their container on the way home.

We were the first clients to arrive at the Vet & we had to wait a bit before they were ready for us.  First, they took Maisy back to an exam room where they did a (portable) ultrasound on her.  One heartbeat!  Hooray!  Mary had kept hope alive that there would be two Otto babies in there, but one was pretty awesome!  I've never seen an ultrasound done before so it was very interesting to me.  I think I saw the spinal cord, but for all I know it could have been the umbilical cord.

After it was confirmed, Maisy was brought in back to be prepped for the c-section.  Every vet/vet's office is different.  This particular vet did not let us back during the prep...but shhh...don't tell, while we were back there I did see them prep another dog.  It consisted of a shot of something that makes them yelp (yeah, that's gotta hurt) & some cleaning of the belly...I'm sure there's more, but that's all I watched.

After Maisy was prepped, she was brought into the operating room & put "under".  Now this vet doesn't put them completely under but some do.  The following photos are not for the queasy...but remember I took them (Miss Medically Challenged) so they really aren't that bad.

Once she's all set, the Dr comes in & starts the cutting process.
Then the horns (uterus) are pulled out gently.  This is where the puppies are.  Think sausages...cut the skin of a sausage & POOF!  Puppies!
After the puppies are taken out of the horn, they are thrown/dropped into a waiting Vet Tech's arms to start the process of getting all the "goop" out of their mouths.  They throw/drop so not to contaminate the puppies.  The Vet Tech will then start rubbing the puppy & sucking out the goop.
Just like a human baby, Mary didn't breath a sigh of relief until her puppy started crying!  And she did & it was sooo cute & quiet...I'm sure it isn't so quiet or cute after awhile though!
If there were more puppies in the litter, this process would be on-going with many hands on deck waiting to catch & rub the puppies!  After the puppies get the goop out, they are placed in an incubator to keep warm while momma gets stitched up.
After, momma gets taken off the table to recover & I was surprised at how fast (MAYBE 20 min) she was up & walking around to leave!  But before that, she was able to recover with her own momma (Mary) right there.
Once it was time to go, we took puppy (named Uma--kinda the female version of Uno as she was the only baby) into a container with air holes that has a heating pad & towels to bring her home in.  Momma Maisy, went right back in her kennel & almost slept on the ride home...almost.

It was quite an amazing morning!  I joked that it was "Jenny's Big Day" because I saw sooooo much for the first time ever.  I'm so glad I went & while I know I will still be freaked when/if Vivi's time comes, at least I know what to somewhat expect....although I have been warned that Sandy's vet does things a bit differently & WE will be the ones catching/rubbing the puppies!  YIKES!

Thanks again to Mary for allowing me to tag along & take it all in.  Of course she has lots of photos & updates on Uma on her blog!  Check it out!

If you're still with me & want to see more info/photos on bully c-sections, Sandy has a great page on her site that you may be interested in.  WARNING: her photos are much closer & therefore more graphic than mine!  You get a much better view of the "sausages"!

Oh & if you're wondering...my knees ONLY hurt when they took the IV out of Maisy after it was all said & done!  I was pretty happy about that!  Progress?  Doubtful...
