Life isn't fair...

Today's post is not easy.  My heart aches from the loss of my kitty Law.  He passed very unexpectedly almost 2 weeks ago & today we got the call that he's ready to come home.  The tears flowed again at that news, but at least he'll be home again.

Law was the prettiest & sweetest kitty I've ever had.  He came to us in a very special way almost 12 years ago & he was the first addition to our family that was "ours."  (Sassy was mine before we were married.)  Once named, DJ, Steve agreed to Law joining our family if he could rename him.  I said, of course!

Law was not your typical graceful cat.  When he'd jump off things you'd hear a loud THUD...you never needed to guess where he was.  When you walked, he usually tried to trip you...not to be funny, he just didn't get the walking ahead of you thing.  He was picky when it came to his water bowl...it NEEDED to be fresh water or he'd turn his nose up at it.

But he was the SWEETEST, SWEETEST boy!
He would not run & hide when people came to visit the house.  He would greet you at the door when you'd come home & meow something I swear sounded like "mommas home!"  He wasn't phased by the bulldogs joining the family either...he wasn't their best friend, but not afraid of them either.

He loved helping me make the bed!   Every time I put fresh sheets on the bed, he'd make sure he was under all the sheets & when I fluffed the sheets, he'd attack.
He also loved to sneak outside & walk around the deck.  He was never an outdoor cat, but he sure wanted to be!  In fact, our last day together he did get outside & I walked around the snowy deck with him & I'm so glad I did.
He was not, however, picky when it came to where he slept!  The tub, the dogs' pillows, boxes...he didn't care!  He was cool like that.

After Sassy passed in January, Law was my velcro kitty & never left my side.  He even took over Sassy's spot in the sewing room.  Always so thoughtful of others.  He missed her as much as I did & we needed each other.
And while he welcomed Pippa to the home, he was never really himself after Sassy was gone.

The ONLY solace in losing Law, is now he is with his bestie again.

LawLaw-we miss you very much & hope Sassy & Ollie have been showing you around the Rainbow Bridge.  Miss you buddy!  It's just not the same without you here.

Of course I'm going to blog today!!!

As many of you know, I LOOOOOVE dates!!  All sorts of fun dates make me happy!  Something like today's 12-12-12.....super fun!!  Dorky I know, but think about it....12-12-12....we're NEVER going to see that again in our lifetimes!  Cool!

So while the last 12 years have got super fast, many of us have seen 1/1/01, 2/2/02, 3/3/03, 4/4/04, 5/5/05, 6/6/06, 7/7/07, 8/8/08, 9/9/09, 10/10/10, and 11/11/11!!!!  I also loved it when the date was 1/2/03 & 2/3/04 & 3/4/05 & 4/5/06....ok, I think you get it.  I dunno...dates just make me happy.

Ask my co-worker...every day this month when I write the date I giggle because it's 12/xx/12...that makes me giggle...yep...I'm a dork.  Oh well...it's not like you didn't already know that!
On a side note....it snowed this weekend...the most we've had since Feb 2011 (which means we did not have a lot of snow last winter--which I loved)....it was pretty only because I was inside all day.  The commutes on Monday & Tuesday however, NOT SO PRETTY!!!  Grrrrr.....

The bullies seemed to enjoy it!  Like every year, they made their "bully highway"--this year it's only 1 lane apparently.
(Do you see Doc peaking around the house??  He's like "Momma!  Let me in!!!!")

We got so much I had to make another path for them in the yard so they could get around, Vivi helped.
At one point, the snow was about "Vivi high!"  I could barely see her!
Hope you're having a great week!!

Thoughts & Prayers

Our thoughts & prayers go out to the family of Officer Tom Decker & to the Cold Springs, MN Police Department who lost one of their own last week.
Officer Decker was laid to rest today & the photos of how many of the "thin blue line" attended the service takes your breath away.
Thank you to Officer Decker & all in law enforcement for your service.

Seriously!! This is "sew" cute!!!

You guessed it!  Talking about sewing today!  I can't help it!  I'm totally in love with this clutch I made on Friday night.
It was meant to be a Christmas gift for my goddaughter, but immediately after I finished it, I couldn't part with it!  Turns out, that was meant to be because I used the orange strictly because that was her favorite color...WAS being the key word!  Ha!

But I'm not too heart broken!  I mean hello...I wanted to keep it anyway!  Hahaha!  I love the color combo...but those gathers!!  Uggh!  LOVING!  As you probably guessed, this is my first attempt at adding such a detail to anything I've made.  I've done ruffles before, but haven't quite mastered the technique.  But this clutch...uggh...LOOOVE.  Yay me!

I used this tutorial at Noodlehead for the clutch & the instructions were great!  I did my own spin on a few touches on the clutch, but overall it's her tutorial.  Did I mention how much I LOOOOVE it??  One fun fact on this clutch...the zipper is older than me!  This past summer I embraced thrift stores for sewing notions & fabric!  It's amazing at what you'll score!!!  $0.49 for that vintage beauty!!

Aww...look!  Still sew cute while at work too!!

Oh & no worries...my goddaughter will still get something...it just won't be orange!  :0)
