This week marks a national week long remembrance of police officers killed in the line of duty; a very unfortunate coincidence in timing of what happened a week ago. Last year I posted a blog on National Police week & it gave me chills reading it again. It all is still so true & unfortunately something, that once again, I felt just last week.
National Police Week honors fallen heros. While locally you will see officers standing guard at memorials & wearing the black band around their badges; in Washington, D.C. there is a week-long schedule of events where thousands of officers from all over the country attend. The names of fallen officers from the past year are added to a memorial, there are seminars, vigils and a memorial service.
To be in D.C. & see such events must be quite the sight. For many, I know this week doesn't impact them; but for police, it's a week they honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their fallen brothers & sisters. Since Blue Line Bulldogs gets its name from the police world, I think it's very appropriate to spread the word of National Police Week.
To the fallen, you will not be forgotten. To the Thin Blue Line, thank you for your continued service.
